Best from kitchen waste

1.In this summer use of lemon is more and the rind is thrown out,instead of that use as a scrub for the skin ,which removes tan and also just drop it in the cooker and prepare rice,the black formation will go.

2.Ice cubes can be used inside the cooler ,which  gives even cold breeze.

3.The water used in washing rice can be used for plants

4.When we use washing machine the  dirty water can be collected in bucket and used to clean balconies.

Summer tips

I have shared few tips which I have started to follow in this summer.

Glowing oranges:
We normally consume oranges and we tend to throw the peel .But do not throw the peel ,sundry it for 2-3 days and make a powder.Then use as a face pack,very refreshing and cool.

Handy curry leaves:
Here in summer we normally  fall short of getting curry leaves so I got an idea .Started getting curry leaves,wash it dry and powder it and use it when required.

Plaintain leaf in your terrace garden
South Indians tend to use this for all pooja purpose and also for big meals.
Even in north india only selected shops have got this leaf.
So growing this would be  good  and looks beautiful.
Growing beetle leaf is also a best option...

Sundaikkai

Sundaikkai also known as turkey berry.

I got bunches of these berries and I immediately washed it,and then just put a slit and used some curd and salt mixed and sun dried it.

We normally store it and use it for Vatha kuzhambu or make powders and have with hot rice.
It is said it helps in digestion and also good for stomach.

Natural coconut shell spa

This is usually south indians practice at home.During my childhood whenever I take hairbath my mom used to put "Sambrani"in tamil and I dry my hair.

So I normally grate the coconut and dry the coconut shells and then burn it and I have one long handle to hold it and then when the fire subsides I have the powder,which we will get in grocery shops"Sambrani powder",I put that for the house.
The aroma is so very good and it spreads to all places.
Our family have the practice to do this on auspicious days.

Caution: childrens dont play with this.Then one and only if you are familiar practice this @ home.

Plantain shoot and fine threads

Here in south India we normally use the plantain shoot which will be in cylindrical shape and is used to prepare curry with coconut.

When we cut these threads are to be taken and can be dried and kept and used for lighting lamp.

In tamil plantain shoot is called "Vazhai thandu:
The fine threads can be used as "Thiri"


I collect and use it for lamps ,which my Mother in law taught this:)

Churning process for butter

We normally collect malai from milk and store in refrigerator and take butter.Almost everyone is familiar with the process.

The main idea is not telling about the process of taking butter,

1.I normally use the traditional method of using wooden churner do it with hands,it takes little bit of time but I  wanted to follow that process..

Reason behind it:
1.usually we use electric churner and take butter,accepted,but in our hands there are accupressure points and each has its own benefits when you activate it.

2.So in older days knowingly or unknowingly they were following this method and they were healthy as well.

3.They walk in bare foot also,even foot has accupressure points.

4.So my father said one day about this accupressure points and I use my hands to do most of work  .

It is my elders practice which they suggested and I am not able to wholly relate to medical field.

Sukku malli coffee

This is one of my favourite.
I was browsing through the net and was looking for recipes,I got this simple recipe.
I dint make a note of the website,but really it was useful.

I just prepare and use it when required.
I am not following any measurement.
For this little black pepper
dhania or coriander seeds-more compared to black pepper
Then dry ginger -according to taste
Cardamom-3-4(you may increase also)

Dry roast it and powder it.Store in container.
With hot milk ,add this powder and also sugar and have it during cold season .
Our family likes this and we enjoy this coffee...:)
